Our Mission
Love people incredibly well as Jesus did (and does).
We hope to love others well by being present to God, connected to each other, and engaged in loving the world.
Our Values
-
Being authentic before God and others
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.
Psalm 139:14 NIV
-
Showing God’s grace to all
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:10 NIV
-
Welcoming diversity as we unite around Jesus
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
Revelation 7:9-10 NIV
-
Inviting everyone into caring relationships with God and one another
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Luke 10:27 NIV
-
Empowering all for service
Jesus sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, 'Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.'
Mark 9:35
Our Beliefs
The Gathering Church affirms the Apostles’ Creed with the Church throughout the ages:
We believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again;
He ascended into heaven. He is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Our Belonging Statement
All y’all are welcome here!
In all things, we seek to follow Jesus and the way he loved others. He respected the dignity of all people and affirmed God’s image in them. His words and acts were full of grace.
This means that we invite people into a community of belonging. Our congregation welcomes and includes all sorts of differences: race, age, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, political affiliation, theological perspective, gender identity, socioeconomic status, denominational background, citizenship, language — whatever makes you who you are.
As a reflection of our shared life and identity in Jesus, we invite all to participate fully in our covenantal life together. This includes practices like communion, child dedication, baptism, marriage, service, leadership, and ordination. Each week, we ask the Holy Spirit to help us stand against injustice and cultivate this diverse community united around Jesus.
