a Guide for Gathering

Indoor Worship at Reality FAQs

Thank you for your interest in joining us for worship. If you have additional questions, please contact emily@allgather.org.

Where are we meeting for indoor worship?

The Reality Center is located at 916 Lamond Ave., Durham, NC 27701.

What time are we meeting for worship?

All our worship services will begin at 10am.

What about kids?

Children’s Class (K – 5th grade): There will be a children’s class for children ages K-5th grade available for families who are comfortable with this. (Children of all ages are always welcome in the worship service as well!) We will be following CDC guidelines in asking parents to monitor children’s symptoms before attending the in-person worship, and if the child is displaying any symptoms to please stay home.

Nursery: (Infants to 2 years old): Our nursery is open for the whole worship hour and located down the hall and to the left in the project Room. Feel free to drop off your little one any time.

Preschool: (3 – 5 years old): Preschoolers will join nursery at dismissal, which is in the project room that is located down the hall and to the left. Preschoolers will have an age appropriate story, game, and craft each week.

What is the worship service going to include? Will there be singing and communion?

We’ll sing, read Scripture, pray and celebrate communion. For communion, we’ll have those who are comfortable come forward. We have gluten free and individual options available. If you’re not ready to receive communion, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated.

Where can I park?

There are multiple parking options. You can park in the Reality Center lot (916 Lamond Ave) or the lot across Lamond Ave in front of the blue building (915 Lamond Ave). The kind folks at Pathos Ethos (1006 Lamond Ave) are letting us use their parking lot as well. Also, there is free parking on the streets surrounding the Reality Center – N Gregson St, Lamond Ave, and Watts St are all good options. Just watch out for fire hydrants, no parking signs and people’s driveways. We want to be good neighbors after all!

What about masks and physical distancing?

Based on the City of Durham’s decision to lift the citywide mask mandate due to declining case numbers and hospitalizations, current CDC and NC DHHS guidelines, masking will be optional at Gathering Church worship services. We recognize and respect that many in our community will still desire or need to wear masks, and all are certainly welcome to do so. “One-way masking” can still provide protection for the wearer. As we have throughout the pandemic, we will continue to monitor current guidelines and recommendations from the medical community, and we may return to requiring masks if necessary.

While we’re not enforcing protocols for physical distancing, we are going to strongly encourage everyone to be aware of and respect others’ physical space, bodily autonomy and comfortability or lack thereof with close contact. Not everyone is ready for a hug or a handshake yet, and we’re all going to need some time to adjust. It’s been a weird year, and we’re all a little more awkward now. But that’s okay. We need to be patient with one another about the space each of us needs in order to feel like we can experience worship in the fullest way possible. Throughout it all, let’s practice respect and compassion for the various levels of comfort people are feeling about these new developments.

When should I arrive?

Arrive a little early to get settled in this new space. We will begin the service promptly at 10:00am.

What if I’m not ready for indoor worship?

That’s okay. We get it. You’re not alone. We will livestream our worship service via YouTube for those who aren’t able to come or aren’t comfortable yet with indoor worship gatherings. Subscribe to our YouTube channel or access the stream via allgather.org/live.
