Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
— Romans 12:1-2 (NRSV)

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. At first glance that feels like work: study and structure, goal setting and discipline. But what if God has another idea for us?

Stop. Take a deep breath. This is not going to be about reading, learning, accomplishing, or following a plan. Today, for these couple minutes, renewal will be about removal. Removing the distractions and simply being present to God.

Please find the song “Anamorphic” by Lights & Motion.

Settle into a comfortable posture.

Hit play and listen to the song while resting your gaze on the photo below.

Renewal and dreaming will find us when we create space. What feelings rose up during the song? What ideas or curiosities came up as you studied the photo? Did God meet you in this moment? I wonder what dreams God is ready to ignite inside your soul this season.

What can you remove this advent season to leave space for God’s transformation?
