We know that in all things God works for the good.

We know that in all things God works for the good.

We are more than conquerors.

Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God.

These are strong words from the apostle Paul. (Romans 8:28-39) Many have found strength in them.

But they are a bit surprising considering Paul’s life.

Nothing seemed to work out for him. He lived under a constant threat and ran into trouble everywhere he went. Arrested, beaten, flogged, stoned, betrayed, even shipwrecked.

If anyone had a reason to doubt God, it should have been Paul. If anyone had a cause to abandon their faith, to pull it back a bit, it should have been Paul.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church we will begin a new message series on Confidence in God. Romans 8:28-39 will be our guide.

Most all of us would like to live with more confidence. Not be so subject to the circumstances of our lives.

Confident people seem to not worry so much about things. They seem bolder, freer and braver.

What prevents us from being more rooted in the love of God?

How can we grow in the assurance that God is at work?

Let’s learn what the Christians in Rome also needed to learn.

I hope to see you this Sunday.
