This Sunday – July 5

This Sunday – July 5

Happy 4th of July everyone.  This Sunday a lot of The Gathering Church will be scattered out of town enjoying the holiday with friends and family.  We will still be meeting at our usual time, 5p.m. at the United Church, 1321 MLK Jr. Blvd.

We will be looking at a passage in Matthew Chapter 9:14-17 where Jesus explains his actions with an illustration about new wine and old wine skins.  Whether a fan of Red or White, there will be something to gain from a closer look at this passage.

I look forward to seeing you then.

Personal:  Libby and I are in Nashville visiting our son Will and his wife Tiffany.  On one of the last times I came to Nashville I bought a black cowboy hat (think Lonesome Dove).  As we were packing to leave the next morning, Libby asked me ‘How do you plan on getting that thing home?’  I had planned on the hat making the journey in the usual fashion, atop my head.  After some debate, I must say that it was awesome walking through RDU like I just got off the road with Montgomery Gentry.  It doesn’t take much for shallow people to feel cool.
