The Gospel of Luke pulls back the curtain on Jesus…

One of my favorite podcasts is one that interviews artists, writers, entertainers and others who shape the culture in which we live. I enjoy it because it allows me to look behind the curtains, behind the scenes to see what a person is thinking, why they do what they do.

The Gospel of Luke pulls back the curtain on Jesus a bit when he reports a prayer that Jesus said. It’s not what we know as the Lord’s Prayer, instead it is a spontaneous eruption of joy.

Found in Luke 10:17-24 it is the reaction of Jesus when he hears about the work of those he had sent out to proclaim the Good News of the kingdom.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church we will look at Jesus’ reaction. Why was he so amazed by what they had done?

Have you ever amazed someone by something you did? I mean good amazement, not some bonehead thing you did of which you should have known better.

What did you do?

What was it like?

Was it something you could do again?

Would you if you could?

What would it be like to amaze Jesus?

This Sunday let’s ask those in the story and see what we learn.

I look forward to seeing you.
