Students, This Sunday – Aug. 23

Welcome, or welcome back if you are returning.

You’ve never been to a church like The Gathering Church.  Unless you’ve been to a church that has just been conceived, not even born yet.  A church that is just beginning to take shape.  Doesn’t have much church stuff, church program.

It does have some people, . . . . some people with a dream.

The dream?  To learn to love people incredibly well, as Jesus did.

Especially those who may seem far from God.  The kind of crowd that Jesus was known for.

You see, we are struck by the New Testament story that shows that the people who found religion totally irrelevant, or worse, found Jesus totally irresistible.   And, people who were comfortable with religion, found Jesus totally objectionable.

We admit that we may be too comfortable with religion.  But, we want to change.  We want to follow Jesus into the lives of others.  We want to learn from Jesus how to love and serve people who think that God, if he exists, could care less about them.

Before we change the world, we know that we need to be changed.

So, right now we gather on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm for worship and learning.  We have a dinner together afterwards.  We are having a great time getting to know each other.

If you want to be part of something new, not yet formed, being shaped by all who come, then I invite you to check it out.  We meet at the United Church, in Chapel  Hill.  Email me if you need a ride.

Don’t just attend something  – build something.

This Sunday – August 23                                                                        5:00 pm, United Church, 1321 MLK, Jr., Blvd.  Chapel Hill

Focus:  Beginning this season of new relationships, we will look at an example of one of the best relationship builders in the life of the Early Church.  Matter-of-fact, if it hadn’t been for him, the apostle Paul probably would have never been accepted into the Christian faith.  We know this person mostly by his nickname.  Figure it out or find out this Sunday.
