Having grown up in a church–going family, I have never known a year in my life that did not include the celebration of Easter. As a kid, of course, it had a lot to do with dyeing Easter eggs and getting candy. I got more than most kids because my dad would bring home the broken chocolate bunnies from the Woolworth Store he managed. (I suspect that I would ‘accidently’ break a few on the shelves if I was in the store days before.)
But, as familiar as Easter is, it always seems strange to me. Strange that we would still be talking about someone who lived so long ago in such a different culture and historic era.
How in the world can Jesus still be relevant?
For one reason alone:
He’s not dead.
He still changes lives today.
The Gathering Church will have a great Easter celebration this Sunday. It will include a great meal after the service along with an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. And we will celebrate what the Risen Jesus does today.  2 Corinthians 5:14-15 will be our theme.
Bring friends and families to this special celebration.
