A Threat To The World As It Was, As It Is

A Threat To The World As It Was, As It Is

Palm Sunday: celebrating the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

After three years of teaching and doing great things, it seemed perfectly fitting to make Jesus the center of the Passover Week procession.

Hosanna!  God save us!

That’s exactly what Jesus had done for so many people.

Wasn’t that enough?

Ironically it was too much.  The great parade proved that Jesus was a threat to the world as it was, as it is.

It convinced those who were in control that they had to get rid of Jesus.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church, we celebrate Palm Sunday. But, we will seek to understand what about it made Jesus so dangerous. The gospel of John 12:9-19 will be our guide.  We will discover that one of Jesus’ closest friends made Jesus dangerous. Lazarus, raised from the dead by Jesus, becomes Exhibit A as to why Jesus must be eliminated.

It makes one wonder how dangerous Jesus is today. Is he really a threat to those in control?

Who looks like Lazarus today?
