A “One Another” Life

A “One Another” Life

In the New Testament of the Bible there is one Greek word that translates our two words, “one another.”  And that word appears everywhere.

Jesus Christ created a community that experienced such an incredible kind of love that it was compelling and contagious.

And it was a love that defied demographics: Jews, Gentiles, slaves, masters, rich, poor.  They all became vitally connected to one another.

Sure, they did not love each other perfectly.  If they had, much of the New Testament would not have been written.  For instance, the most inspiring passage on love, found in 1 Corinthians 13 (which has been overused at weddings), was not inspiring at all to its first readers.  It was a slap in the face due to their prideful behavior and lack of love.

But something remarkable does happen when our care for others is infused with the love of Christ.

This Sunday at the Gathering Church, our series A Good Life, continues with a focus on Romans 12:9-13.

What does it mean to be “devoted to one another?”

Why does it matter?

Doesn’t the structure of our lives make it impossible?

How can we actually escape the shallowness of a stressed-out life today?

What does a community that Christ is building look like?
